Stan Bruce, the founder of Bruce Insurance (previously Stan Bruce Insurance Brokers), passed away peacefully at home on the 20th June after a two year battle with cancer.

Stan was considered an insurance broking ‘legend’ in Perth after spending two decades as owner, operator and account manager of Stan Bruce Insurance Brokers. Prior to insurance broking, Stan had spent 20 years on the ‘other side of the fence’, working for an insurance company, Royal Insurance, both here in Perth and in Victoria. As an insurance broker Stan had a depth of experience matched by few, but what stood out most was his passion and steadfast pursuit of the best outcomes for his clients.

Many of Stan’s ex-employees have gone on to successful careers in the industry and most are quick to acknowledge the large role that Stan contributed to their success largely by instilling his values in them. Since Stan’s retirement in 2008 the business has continued to carry on under new ownership and name, but it continues to be driven by the passion and values instilled by Stan Bruce. Stan created a foundation where building strong relationships have always been central, however he also ensured that doing what is morally right and not giving in when a few hurdles are put in the way was equally as important.

Stan will be sadly missed by many. He touched the lives of countless people in his life, including those that knew him during his long distinguished career in the insurance industry, and of course, his family, friends and his many golfing buddies.
