Is now the time for new cafe insurance in Perth?

Are you considering new cafe insurance in Perth? Many establishments across Australia may be in the same position after new figures showed the nation’s coffee shops appear to be bustling with customers.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data revealed turnover in cafes, restaurants and takeaways jumped 2 per cent in January. Only department stores achieved a bigger percentage rise (2.6 per cent). In fact, cafes and other catering industries saw revenues of approximately $3.2 billion at the beginning of the year. This is an annual increase of $300 million and $500 million higher than earnings in 2012.

Earlier this month, Roy Morgan Research reported a rise in coffee shop visits, with 56 per cent of over-18s frequenting an establishment over an average three-month period last year. This was a rise of 2 percentage points on 2009 figures. If these trends continue, cafe owners across the country can expect higher profits, more customers and growth potential.

However, with larger workforces, increased custom and site expansion comes additional risks. Whether it’s slips, trips and falls, machinery breakdowns or even employee fraud, businesses need comprehensive cafe insurance for protection.

Complications inside the store are just part of the problem. Freak weather conditions, nature disasters or a number of other external forces could also cause significant issues.

Therefore it is vital that cafe owners are prepared for worst-case scenarios and invest in comprehensive insurance. Public liability, building insurance, stock insurance and employer’s liability are some of the products that make up an effective cafe cover package.
